Be very careful. Any employer looking to hire you knows someone that works for TGT. You stand a very good chance to be blackballed. And the worst part is, you’ll never know.
Find a non-profit you believe in. Get a job there. Doing anything, even if it's not your specialty. You'll find your place, or you'll find another non-profit, and you will be part of the solution. You won't make much money, you will struggle financially, but your spirit will be filled.
I'm surprised she never learned “bottom line” is king in corporate America. If budgets are not met, they don't look at inefficiencies to cut costs, they lay people off. In my corporate life, we always ran our department as efficient as possible and were sometimes tasked with looking at other divisions’ processes and procedures and make recommendations for improvement. 99% of the time our recommendations were rejected by the people doing the work and corporate accepted this because they honestly didn't care how they got there as long as their bottom line showed a profit
You are spot on Melissa. In my youth, I had various jobs that I was laid off from because a group of accountants calculated profits.
In order for the company to meet their profit goals to investors on the New York Stock exchange they had to find a way to see if they would “make their numbers” by the end of the “quarter.” Yeah, the USA only cares about the current “quarter financially.”
They only care about what is “trending.” You don’t think you are going to make your numbers? Boom: You have to lay people off! Onward, ~Mitch
Grow up!! Until you own/run a company, you need to learn to get along. Never do anything that is immoral, but you are an employee. Now that you made your big stance, where are you working now!!! Did you quit with no job to go to? If yes, you are a fool! Unemployment is increasing & climbing the ladder again will be hard as your reputation has just taken a hit with this ridiculous public stance. I wouldn’t hire you, as you already have demonstrated that you have no loyalty, you want to embarrass the management & company. Bad move!
She is exactly the kind of person you want. She has a brain. She can evaluate weak business processes. She can think outside the box and find better solutions. She's not afraid to call you out on your stupidity. She is the kind of person who will give you loyalty if you treat her with respect and value her insights. That doesn't mean she's gonna be right every single time but clearly with the numbers of retail businesses that are failing and the big numbers of retail options shrinking by the week, the white boys running the shit show aren't often right either.
LOL, Chris… “loyalty”?? To a corporation? Are you mentally living in the 1950’s?!? I’ve been in corporate for decades. There’s no loyalty. For an employee, there’s only cut-throat “get what you need from the company” because they are getting what they need from you, nothing more.
It’s vicious. There’s no loyalty, and I can assure the corporate has no morals; corporations do the bare minimum to mitigate legal liability, but after that, they get away with whatever they can that benefits them. Your reply must be referring to a smaller, tight-knit company (and then you are correct), but is misplaced idealism in today’s corporate landscape.
You know Elroy, back in 2010 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a Corporation has a soul. Yes, Google has a soul according to the Supreme Court Justices. So now that I am retired, do you know what I share with people? I tell them that they need to take their name and form it as a Corporation.
A Corporation has the same rights as a human being.
Would you like an example of this?
David Bowie (RIP), was created as a company on the New York Stock Exchange and raised millions of dollars to protect his IP. (Intellectual Property).
Elroy, you are right over the target. You nailed it bro. So take your name and turn it into a company so it is not you, it is a real company.
Thank you for letting me share my insights and experience with you. Make it a great day and feel free to share your own thoughts anytime.
Wow… that’s very interesting (and unsettling)! I looked into it, and you are correct, SCOTUS ruled that corporations are “associations of citizens”, and therefore get 1st amendment rights and such. That doesn’t sit well, for the corporation I’m within, 90% of its holders are global “institutional investors”, with the top three being the maniacal BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street trio (those are the top three holders in many captured companies as well). We citizen employees are fully muted now as neofeudalism has completely taken over this work environment. The company’s voice is not the “association of citizens”, that’s for sure.
That’s so creepy!
Thank you for the insight! I think I need to take your advice and get my name incorporated!
(Robin here) you obviously haven't worked in retail in general, or at Target specifically. Nothing this young lady said is incorrect. And I've worked both.
(Robin here) I don't think the problem is the metrics or the profits. I think the problem is the lack of investment in training, and the placement of applications and expectations that do not match what is viable for the locations.
I had not been into any “Target” store since 2016 when they announced their creepy corporate policy allowing men to access women’s toilet. 9 years. About a month ago, I needed to refill a prescription at the CVS inside the store…the atmosphere was DEI to absurd ends. The anti-straight-white-male vibe was so powerful that I left without my meds. Wife thinks I’m over sensitive. She’s usually right about this sort of thing but I explained that the bias wasn’t designed to repel straight-white-women, just their husbands. I also reminded her that her name isn’t Karen.
People are literally losing their minds, at least where I am. The mother of the woman I provided respite care for had a nervous breakdown from cannabis at night and taking an SSRI after having been off of it, plus taking her daughter’s ONFI and departed via ambulance. I truly wish we had invested in proper mental health maintenance strategies rather than the sort of “science” I saw in labs. It would have been a far better investment for humanity at large. I am not a mental health professional and cannot fix others, particularly when substances are involved. At this point, I have enough to manage with my own mental, spiritual and physical health. It seems that there are those that gravitate towards every terrifying story online as well and that is not helpful for anyone’s mental health. Yes, there are scary things going on. However, when one has a child to care for, striving to maintain emotional and mental balance is imperative. It’s something I have to actually work at all day long, every single day. Substances are not actually healing people, that’s for sure. I am no longer very sympathetic when one chooses to drug themselves when presented with far healthier options.
I'm sorry Elizabeth that you are going through this. We all are at some level. My daughter has to be on specific medications. When you mix Cannabis with big pharmaceutical drugs, that combination can be horrific.
You are right, we are pretty much all going through it. Cannabis induced psychosis is a legitimate thing. My oldest daughter is epileptic and must be on medications as well so I get it. The thing that really terrifies me and upsets me at this time is the number of people who have literally attempted to pass their damaged children on to me so they can go have “fun”. I only wish I were kidding. I assure you that I am not. Meaning like literally asking me to assume responsibility for their child for the rest of that child’s life. All I can say is WTF??? It is a rather disposable society at this point and that is something I never anticipated.
It has become almost fashionable to be unhinged. It is not cool as there are so many good tools available. Free tools. God help us all. I could not mean that more.
Thanks for your understanding, Mr. Santell. I have a Mensa IQ and I have spent the last decade pretty much unlearning. I’m definitely in the I don’t know what to believe club. From observation, though, what we have going clearly is not working out for the majority. Have a good day.

The paraphrase Rainman, “Target sucks.”
I am sorry she is just realizing any company that makes money only cares about money but did she not grow up in this capitalist society HELLO?!?😳
You are spot on Melissa. In my youth, I had various jobs that I was laid off from because a group of accountants calculated profits.

At the end of the day you can’t run a 1st world country with 3rd world people.
Wow, I never thought of that: You are spot on. Incredible, thank you.
Let’s make a list of all the retail businesses that have failed.
I mean, sure…the stores are big, but 4 years?! You should’ve figured your way out by now.
It’s the same in every company, numbers must add up! The little company’s get swallowed up by investment companies.
Grow up!! Until you own/run a company, you need to learn to get along. Never do anything that is immoral, but you are an employee. Now that you made your big stance, where are you working now!!! Chris is clueless.

The reality Chris is simple and we both know it right?
These companies all work with a bottom line. They either makes their numbers or they don’t.
Most of these companies are mainly run by accountants and soon it will be a.i.
So yeah Chris, if they don’t make their numbers, they fire people, and just quitting because you don’t like it, you always have that option.
Make it a great day and I really appreciated your comments because numerous times in my youth I was laid off. Not because I couldn’t do my job.
I was laid off because the company had to hit their “nut” for their investors on the New York Stock Exchange!
Hey, it is what it is.
Onward and Upward,
Mitch
TEAAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK!
Target is gross. 🤮
How dare they be so myopic as to focus on things like metrics, performance, and profits? Oh, wait…
(Robin here) I don't think the problem is the metrics or the profits. I think the problem is the lack of investment in training, and the placement of applications and expectations that do not match what is viable for the locations.
So they should put you in charge
