Look on the bright side, now you know. When you take a job, just remember that when you leave there will be details to clean up.
I get that you at that point no longer feel obligation to the company, but walking out in the middle of the day affects your co-workers and the people who have been relying on your efforts to live their lives and do their work. It is an expectation of civil society that we don’t just walk away from a ladder we are holding while someone is currently working at the top of it.
That said, it sure was easier to do this when the companies we work for cared a bit more about us.

I agree! An angry empoyee who decides to get their revenge. It is why I love the movie "Office Space," where the lead character gets hypnotized and doesn't care about his job anymore and Corporate wants to promote him!

Did you resign on the spot — like no plan to return? Or was she delegating unusual work for you that was outside the scope of your normal duties that might be considered much more difficult to do before you leave? Because that sounds a bit retaliatory in nature. And they could be trying to set you up for a bad reference.
Maybe you should have asked the person straight out why she sent you the list of things to do before you sent your resignation? I’ve been in those situations myself & I’ve asked the person why and the answer I always received was “because I can count on you to do the jobs required”.
Me? I was nice enough to give a 2 week notice, I don’t remember quitting on the spot. It’s not a good look quitting outright but it depends on the situation though.

Letting go the same day without notice makes the company look bad when you’re looking for another job. But if you have a position that requires some need for security clearance they do let you go the same day. They should & most do tell the person why they’re being let go, depending on what the reason is maybe you could fight it, but is it worth it?
From some of the articles I have read and the videos I have watched, some of these employees were called by their boss, then they have a 10 minute zoom call and told that as of their “zoom call,” they are fired!
